Composing Competition
1996 – 2000

Project management of this prestigious international classical music prize, a collaboration between the three BBC groups, EMI, the London Symphony Orchestra and the European Broadcasting Union.

Role encompassed development of the prize process, identifying and seeking juries, marketing the competition to contestants all over the world, organising press events, administration of 1000+ entries we received. Once the shortlist was selected we set up recordings and broadcasts of the pieces to a network of 38 partner stations.

We organised and stage managed a
Gala final at the Barbican, broadcast live on radio with contributions from Cherie Blair, Sue McGregor, Chris Smith, Simon Callow and James Naughtie and celebrated musicians such as world-renowned cellist/conductor Mstislav Rostropovich, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Sir George Martin. We also ran the world-wise press operation for the event achieving coverage in UK and international broadsheet press.
